Course instructors participate in outcomes assessment by describing how the course(s) they lead contribute to the department’s agreed-upon outcomes in their Position Responsibility Statement, which is reviewed and agreed upon in consultation with the Department Chairperson. Each course instructor has identified a set of two to four primary outcomes addressed by the course(s) they lead, and identifies the specific student activities/artifacts to be evaluated using the common rubric. Examples include a variety of exercises (e.g., for communication, student-written policy briefs, laboratory reports, management plans, and oral presentations) and activities (e.g., for assessing information, student data collection and analysis, resource modeling and evaluation) that occur within the context of individual courses.
