Anne Phillips joined the staff of the Tallgrass Prairie Center in 2021 as Community Engagement Coordinator. Born in Oklahoma, raised in Iowa and educated in Kansas, Anne feels like she has always had a bit of prairie in her soul. Anne holds degrees in English literature and graphic design, as well as a master’s degree in journalism and mass communications from the William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. She worked almost 20 years as a newspaper journalist and another 9 years as a graphic designer. She volunteers for and serves on the board of directors for the Youth Art Team, a nonprofit organization that brings together students from a variety of backgrounds and life situations to develop and create community art. Anne has four grown daughters and their families, including three grandchildren.
