Position
  • Assistant Professor
I am a wildlife ecologist with professional and personal interests in the ecology, conservation, and natural history of mammals, particularly in rangeland ecosystems. Research themes in our group include trophic (plant-herbivore, predator-prey) interactions and conservation of rare and declining species. Recent and ongoing research programs include field tests of macroecological theory in small mammal communities, effects of mammalian herbivores on broader ecosystem properties, and conservation of carnivores, ungulates, rodents, and bats in human-occupied landscapes. Much of our work is conducted internationally, primarily in East Africa.
