NREM undergraduate and graduate students, along with Story County Conservation Board technicians participated in the Safety and Woods Worker Training Program which provides sawyers with a hands-on training programs delivered by certified chainsaw safety trainers.  Level One included sessions on body mechanics, personal protective equipment, necessary tools, saws, tree felling, and limbing, bucking, and topping.  Level two of the training included maintenance, hands-on filing, carburetor adjustment, limbing techniques, precision felling assessment, and precision at the stump, including notching, hinge, species differences and terrain.
