Incoming transfer and freshmen enrolled in NREM 207, “Introduction to the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation,” spent the last weekend of September outdoors, learning about the ways people connect to natural resources through outdoor recreation. The annual Outdoor Skills Weekend is held with the help of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to give students an opportunity to learn about things like hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, bird watching, and other outdoor recreation opportunities that help people value natural resources. The weekend concludes with a Wild Game Dinner prepared by NREM faculty, staff, and DNR partners.
