In order to promote a comfortable and positive atmosphere, we host events throughout the year for students, faculty, staff, and friends.
Held the same day following the New Student Mini Camp, the Welcome Picnic is to welcome all students, faculty and staff to the new school year. Held at Brookside Park in Ames the evening consists of good food, games, club/organization displays, and door prizes! This is a chance for students to become more comfortable with their peers and professors.
More information about the Picnic will be given out during orientation, in the students' NREM 110 Orientation to NREM course and through other forms of announcement.
Each December we have our Chili Cook-off where anyone is able to pre-enter their chili into one of six categores: Chili Champ, Cook-Off Comic, Roadkill Chili, Veggie Victory, Five-Alarm Chili, or Crowd Pleasin' Chili. This event also gives us the opportunity to recognize our students that have recently received a scholarship or whill be graduating at the end of the fall semester.
More information about the Chili Cook-off will be given out during students' NREM 110 Orientation to NREM course and through out forms of announcement.
The spring Recognition Banquet held in April of each year is a formal event that gives students the chance to dress up and recognize and be recognized for scholarships and contributions. In order to fund this great event there is a cost for tickets as well as a silent auction.

These events wouldn't happen without the dedicated support of students and faculty that volunteer. Thank you to those that continuously step in to lend a hand. If you are interested in getting involved in these events, keep an eye out for volunteer requests or contact Amanda at email@example.com.
