Forestry Camp

Fall Forestry Camp, lead by two faculty members, is a three-week, off-campus experience. The camp introduces students to natural resource professionals in a forest region outside of Iowa. Areas covered during camp include: ecology, public and private forests, conservation, resource management, sustainable forest products, and urban forestry.

The flexibility for camp is built into the curriculum during the fall semester at the sophomore level when forestry students enroll in Forestry 201-206 (15 credits). The courses are designed to give students an early understanding of the many aspects of natural resources and how they are interrelated. The course work consists of a balance of lecture, laboratory and field work.

This great camp experience comes with added costs for lodging, food and travel. There are several scholarships and awards are available to ease the cost, and students also volunteer to be van drivers for labs and camp in exchange for the travel cost waived.
