Nearly all faculty in NREM conduct research in their particular field of interest. In addition, there are two units associated with NREM that coordinate research projects in specific areas:

  • The Iowa Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit
  • The North Central Regional Aquaculture Center

The department also has several specialized research capabilities:

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Lab
  • Indoor intensive aquaculture labs
  • ISU Aquatic Research Facility (ISU-ARF)
  • Landscape Ecology and Sustainable Ecosystem Modeling Lab
  • Wood products lab

Some NREM-associated research projects maintain their own web sites. Here is a sampling:

  • Vegetative Environmental Buffers
  • Iowa Gap Analysis
  • Status of Henslow's Sparrows
  • Development of the Iowa Rivers Information System (pdf file)
  • The ISU Biocomposites Research Group
  • Riparian Management Systems (Buffers)
