You
can get involved!
If you enjoy watching wildlife, you are already a NatureMapper.
If you would like to submit your records to a statewide database,
then you can become a participant in the Iowa NatureMapping
Program.
Individuals in their backyards, hikers, homeschoolers, classrooms,
whole schools, community groups, agencies, and businesses are
all examples of those who can participate in the NatureMapping
Program. Each NatureMapper has different goals and uses the
Program at different levels and in different ways, but they
are all becoming more aware of the biodiversity that makes up
our world.
This website has information and tools that you can use to become
involved as a NatureMapper at any level. If you are a student,
teacher, community leader, concerned citizen, etc., then there
is an opportunity for you to NatureMap. If you have field notes
or records from the past or present, or a project in the future,
that you would like to share, we would welcome the input. If
you observe wildlife on a casual basis, then we would like to
know what you see. In its simplest form, we ask that you record
the wildlife you see and where you see it...that's all.
Iowa is a big place and creating an inventory can only be done
with your help.
There may be an Iowa NatureMapping workshop in your area. To
find out, check the current listing of workshop
locations.
