Workshops for 2001:

We had a very successful training season this year. We trained 103 individuals. The list of trained NatureMappers continues to grow, and includes individuals from very diverse backgrounds. Please keep checking back to this page for additions to next year's list of training workshops and sign up for one that fits your schedule. (Care to host a workshop? All workshops are from 9:00am - 4:00pm unless stated otherwise.


A MINIMUM of 15 participants is required for workshops to take place.

What will you need to bring with you that day?

  • Appropriate Dress for being outdoors
  • Notepaper and pencil/pen
  • Binoculars (if you have them)
  • USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle map*

*Between now and the workshop please borrow or purchase a 7.5' quad (seven and a half minute quadrangle map) of an area familiar to you and bring it to the workshop. We will be learning off of these maps. You can get these maps at the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Energy and Geological Resources Division, Geological Survey Bureau by calling 319/335-1575 or writing to:
