Tartarian Honeysuckle

Tartarian Honeysuckle (Lonicera tatarica)

Tartarian honeysuckle is a dense many-stemmed erect shrub growing up to 10 feet tall; whereas, native honeysuckles are trailing or climbing vines and not shrubby. Bush honeysuckle often grows in dense stands in the forest understory. Leaves are opposite, simple, and light bluish-green in color. Leaves are not toothed. Bush honeysuckle flowers are tubular and can be a variety of colors, from white to yellow to various shades of red. Fruits are berries, which are located close to the stems and are yellow-orange to red in color. Bush honeysuckle bark is light brown and often has thin loose edges flaking off.
