Tartarian
Honeysuckle (Lonicera tatarica)
|
|
| Tartarian
honeysuckle is a dense many-stemmed erect shrub growing
up to 10 feet tall; whereas, native honeysuckles are
trailing or climbing vines and not shrubby. Bush honeysuckle
often grows in dense stands in the forest understory.
Leaves are opposite, simple, and light bluish-green
in color. Leaves are not toothed. Bush honeysuckle flowers
are tubular and can be a variety of colors, from white
to yellow to various shades of red. Fruits are berries,
which are located close to the stems and are yellow-orange
to red in color. Bush honeysuckle bark is light brown
and often has thin loose edges flaking off. |
